Promoambiental Distrito consolidates its leadership in circular economy with Zero Waste Certification

Last January 21, Promoambiental District marked a milestone in the environmental management of the public sanitation sector by receiving the Zero Waste Management System Certification in Gold category, granted by ICONTEC. With this achievement, the company becomes one of the pioneering organizations in the public sanitation service sector in Bogota to achieve this recognition, consolidating its position as a benchmark in sustainability and circular economy at the city level.

This certification validates the implementation of a comprehensive circular economy model, focused on enhancing the management of waste generated internally in its operations base. Through strategies to reduce the consumption of resources, reuse of materials, separation at source and responsible waste management, Promoambiental District demonstrates that sustainability, when strategically integrated into operations, generates real, measurable and verifiable results.

A year of continuous work with tangible impacts

The implementation and certification process of the Zero Waste Management System was developed during a year of constant work, thanks to the articulation of the administrative and operational processes of the organization, under the leadership of the General Management. As a result of this collective effort, so far in 2025 Promoambiental Distrito achieved:

  • Avoid the generation of 187,000 kilograms of waste.
  • Achieve 84 % of real recycling, aligned with your daily operation.

The external audit conducted by ICONTEC, The company, in its role as Conformity Assessment Body, ratified the rigor, coherence and transparency of the process, consolidating the organization as a benchmark in sustainable management within the sanitation sector in Bogotá.

This achievement was possible thanks to the commitment and leadership of an interdisciplinary team that promoted the adoption of the Zero Waste Management System as a strategic priority:

  • Tomás Mendoza - General ManagerThe company strategically led the implementation of the system, providing direction, institutional support and key decision making to consolidate this process.
  • Angela Mendoza - Management System Directorcoordinated the articulation of the Zero Waste Management System with existing systems, ensuring its alignment with corporate standards.
  • Ana Muñoz - Environmental Improvement ProfessionalTechnical leadership: technically led the implementation of the system, defining guidelines, indicators and accompanying the different areas to make it an operational and certifiable reality.
  • Lorena Pineda - Environmental Analystsupported the standardization of processes, monitoring of indicators and work with the teams involved in environmental management.
  • Edgar Cataño - Sustainability Managerled the Corporate Sustainability Plan, aligning the Zero Waste Management System with the corporate strategy and the principles of circular economy.
  • Valeria NiñoCommunicator: led the internal communication strategy to ensure that waste reduction and responsible consumption initiatives reached every employee, making the achievement of certification a joint purpose.
