Vive Claro Establishes Bogotá as a Regional Benchmark for Sustainable Events in Its First Year
The venue achieved the Gold Category Zero Waste Event Certification after reaching a 100% actual recycling rate of recoverable materials during Ed Sheeran’s concert.
BOGOTÁ, D.C., Colombia — October 6, 2026 — As part of its first anniversary celebration, Vive Claro Distrito Cultural today presented the annual report of its environmental milestones. The event brought together executives, strategic partners, and international environmental organizations such as WWF and Global Zero Waste (W2W), establishing a model where large-scale entertainment and sustainability operate in harmony in the Colombian capital.
During the session, led by Luz Ángela Castro, CEO of Ocesa; Luz Angélica Rey, Customer Experience, Strategic Relations, and Sustainability Manager at Vive Claro; and Paula Guerra, Marketing and Communications Manager, the team presented the results of the Sustainability and Comprehensive Solid Waste Management (GIRS) program, which has transformed mass event production in Colombia.
The most notable achievement of the period was the official certification granted by the international organization Global Zero Waste. Vive Claro received the Gold Category Zero Waste Event Recognition with a technical score of 91.9 out of 100 under the International Zero Waste Events Standard (Version 3.0), evaluated during international artist Ed Sheeran’s concert.
According to the technical audit report, operations reached historic metrics for the country: 100% actual recycling of recoverable materials and 73.3% overall recycling, in addition to achieving 100% compliance across key metrics including Leadership, Support, Performance Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement.
"This Gold Category recognition proves that hosting world-class shows while minimizing environmental impact is fully viable. We aren't just managing events; we are building a living culture of circular economy and sustainability in the entertainment industry," said Luz Angélica Rey, Customer Experience, Strategic Relations, and Sustainability Manager at Vive Claro.
A fundamental pillar of the strategy has been raising awareness and training over 300 people per event, incorporating production staff, logistics teams, employees, and the 'eco-guardians' brigade to ensure proper source separation and material recovery. With these results, the venue reaffirms its commitment to applying circular economy models (9R) and reducing waste sent to landfills.
