Mixealo Fest 2025 receives Gold category Zero Waste event recognition

The festival establishes itself as a sustainability benchmark in the events industry after meeting the highest circular economy and waste management standards awarded by Global Zero Waste

Bogotá, Colombia – 31 July 2025

On 25 and 26 July, Bogotá was the stage for unique experiences in flavour, creativity and liquid culture with the second edition of Mixéalo Fest, an event that brought together well-known figures from the cocktail world and specialist brands in an open-air fair format.

The Parque Museo del Chicó became the meeting point for lovers of premium cocktails, where visitors could enjoy exhibitions, tastings, exclusive launches and a programme celebrating the art of mixing with mastery.

For this edition, Global Zero Waste is honoured to announce that MIXEALO FEST 2025 has been recognised as a Zero Waste Event, achieving an outstanding score of 96.58 points out of 100 under the requirements of the International Zero Waste Events Standard. The production was led by Páramo Presenta and Global Wine & Spirits (GWS), under the direction of Catalina Orjuela (Sustainability Director at Páramo Presenta) and Daniela Hernández (Administrative Coordinator at GWS), setting a milestone in the events industry in Colombia and the region for its exceptional commitment to sustainability and the circular economy.

This recognition is the result of outstanding planning and precise execution of innovative logistical strategies, in collaboration with strategic partner Luup S.A.S., led by its Commercial and Projects Director, Diego Cortés Cubillos, who was a key piece in the operation and implementation of every waste management initiative. Every phase, from pre-production to post-event, was carried out under the highest circularity standards.

One of the most effective strategies was the deployment of the Ecoguardianes team, sustainability ambassadors who played a key role in communicating the event's objectives directly. Their educational and guiding work was essential in ensuring proper separation of waste at source, maximising the purity of the materials recovered.

Also noteworthy was the participation of the programme led by Pazosfera, through its Libertad-Es initiative, in partnership with the Fundación Transformando Libertad, which promotes the inclusion of people in the process of social reintegration. Women and men who, having served their sentences, are today an active part of various projects, contributing not only to successful waste management but also to strengthening processes of social justice, resilience and equity.

The success of Mixealo Fest 2025 also rested on the intensive use of reusable materials, minimising waste generation from the outset and significantly reducing the use of single-use materials. That strategy showed that memorable experiences can be created with a minimal environmental footprint.

In addition, the recycling of all recoverable waste was guaranteed, achieving a recovery rate above the sector average and in line with the criteria set out in the International Zero Waste Events Standard. The most notable achievement was reducing to zero the amount of solid waste sent to final disposal, a result that highlights the operational efficiency and commitment of everyone involved.

The logistical operation involved constant, thorough verification of Integral Solid Waste Management processes, starting in the pre-production phase and reinforced during the event. At the close, a detailed waste characterisation was carried out in order to identify opportunities for improvement that would further reduce the volumes going to energy recovery or co-processing in future editions.

On this milestone, our CEO Sandra Pinzón said:

“Mixealo Fest 2025 being recognised in the Gold category under the International Zero Waste Events Standard, with an exceptional score of 96.58%, represents much more than a technical achievement: it is concrete proof that the events industry in Latin America and worldwide is ready to lead profound transformations towards real sustainability.

At Global Zero Waste, we celebrate the commitment, rigour and innovation with which Páramo Presenta, GWS and Luup S.A.S. took on this challenge.

In particular, I want to highlight the human value behind this result: the Ecoguardianes team and the active inclusion of people in the process of social reintegration show that the circular economy can also be a vehicle for justice, equity and hope.

This milestone inspires us to keep promoting higher standards, in the conviction that a future without waste is possible, measurable and replicable.”

Global Zero Waste extends its sincerest congratulations to the whole team at Páramo Presenta, Global Wine & Spirits (GWS), Luup S.A.S., to the Ecoguardianes, suppliers, visitors and everyone who made Mixealo Fest 2025 a genuine benchmark of sustainability and circular economy in the events industry. This achievement is not only a source of pride but an inspiration for the future of the sector.
